Obtaining Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)

The Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is an important tax processing identifier issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to ensure individuals fulfill their tax obligations.

ITINs are particularly beneficial for foreign individuals who are not eligible for a Social Security Number but still need to file U.S. tax returns.

Foreign individuals can obtain an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) even if they reside outside the United States. To apply, they must submit Form W-7 to the IRS, along with documentation that proves their identity and foreign status, such as a passport or national identification card. Applications can be submitted by mail or through a private delivery service, and applicants are not required to appear in person.
